Maia is the Founder and CEO of Lariat Wealth Management, an independent wealth management and investment advisory firm. Maia has nearly three decades of experience in the finance and investment industry and is a CFA Charterholder. She spent the majority of her career in institutional asset management as an equity research analyst for Janus Capital and Denver Investment Advisors. Previously, she was a mergers and acquisitions investment banker at Green Manning and Bunch, Ltd., and an associate in Deutsche Bank Securities Inc.’s structured and project finance debt capital markets group in New York.

Maia received her BA in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia and her MA in Law and Diplomacy (International Affairs) with a concentration in international economics and finance from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.

Maia is currently serving her second term as a Trustee for the University of Northern Colorado. She chaired the Finance and Audit Committee from 2019-2023. She also serves as Board Member and Treasurer for the Wolf Creek Run Metropolitan District. In 2015, she was appointed by Governor Hickenlooper to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) and chaired the Fiscal Affairs and Audit Committee. She also served on the Genesee Fire Protection District Board of Directors, serving as Treasurer, and the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver.
